About Us: Welcoming Everyone

[ Listening | Responding | Welcoming | Sharing | Showing | Team ]

God is a God of hospitality and welcome.  That’s why we want to offer all visitors, as well as our regular members, a warm welcome. We enjoy meeting and eating together on a regular basis! For us, welcome is about building up our life together, making St. John’s a family worth joining.

Part of our welcome means caring for one another at all stages in our lives. We aim to provide pastoral care in a variety of ways, including our housegroups, Mothers’ Union, Men’s group, St. John’s Ramblers, and even our cricket team! Leaders of these groups meet four times a year for envisioning, teaching and support.

Our clergy and licensed Pastoral Visitor also visit members of the congregation regularly.

Prayer support is available to those in need through a Prayer Chain, and through prayer ministry during or after our Sunday services.

The occasional offices (weddings, funerals and baptisms) give us the opportunity to care for the wider community. This is supported by a baptism visitor and the retired clergy. We hold an annual Memorial Service for the bereaved.

We hold regular services in the four care homes for the elderly that are found in Chapeltown, and our Wednesday morning coffee shop offers some time out for the residents of one of the care homes.
